SOLIDARITY STATEMENT TO VENEZUELA
BY THE COMMUNIST LEAGUE OF UGANDA
22/01/2026
In 1884–1885, Chancellor Otto von Bismarck of Germany chaired the Berlin Conference, where European imperial powers partitioned Africa without regard for its peoples or borders. Africans subsequently endured a century of colonial rule marked by torture, exploitation, and relentless suffering.
Although the end of colonialism was marked by so-called “independence,” many African nations continue to live under the shadow of neo-imperialism perpetuated by global superpowers such as the United States and the United Kingdom. These powers have destabilized sovereign nations, leaving them war-torn and impoverished. The continued conflicts in Libya, Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Somalia, and South Sudan reflect this ongoing pattern of domination. Throughout modern history, revolutionary leaders like Thomas Sankara, Patrice Lumumba, and Amílcar Cabral have been assassinated for daring to challenge imperial control.
The destructive forces of imperialism extend beyond Africa. In Palestine, the Israeli regime, supported by the United States, continues to commit grave atrocities against the Palestinian people. The silence and complicity of Western powers reveal their hypocrisy and disregard for human life.
Today, the same imperial aggression is directed at Venezuela. The interference of the United States in Venezuela’s sovereign affairs, including the abduction and persecution of President Nicolás Maduro and his family, represents a new form of colonial domination. These actions mirror the destructive interventions the U.S. has executed in Iran, Iraq, Libya, and Cuba—leaving those nations fractured and suffering.
As the Communist League of Uganda, we denounce these imperialist actions and stand firmly in solidarity with the people of Venezuela and their legitimate leader, Comrade Nicolás Maduro. Venezuelans have the sovereign right to determine their own destiny without interference from foreign powers. Democracy cannot be defined or dictated by the United States it belongs to the people.
The killing of innocent people in the world will not mark the USA a super power but the failed greedy nation
We therefore demand that;
FREE NICOLÁS MADURO.
FREE CILIA FLORES
FREE VENEZUELA.
STOP IMPERIALISM IN AFRICA AND ACROSS THE WORLD.
LONG LIVE THE STRUGGLE FOR GLOBAL LIBERATION.
LONG LIVE THE UNITY OF OPPRESSED PEOPLES.
