Statement by Chairman of the CLU on the 2nd Anniversary of its founding

The Communist League of Uganda (CLU) finally marks its second anniversary, celebrating two years of self establishment, political organisation, ideological development, mobilisation, and commitment to the struggle for socialism in Ugandan society. These two years have represented a long journey characterised by hope, challenges, determination, strengths, and weaknesses. Throughout this period, the CLU has continued to develop its organisation while seeking to establish a firm foundation for the advancement of the socialist cause in the country, and supporting socialist agenda in the region and across Africa.
From its inception, the Organisation identified several priority areas, including organisational self-establishment, the fulfilment of its political and organisational obligations, and the recruitment and development of comrades committed to the socialist struggle and equipped them with politically conscious mind in the field of Marxism-Leninism-Maoism ideology to prepare for encounters from any confrontation, revisionism, opportunism and reactionary forces.
Despite the fact that significant progress has been made in these areas, much work remains to be done. One of the key organisational objectives has been the establishment of CLU offices across the different regions of Uganda and mobilisation as well educating the masses to rally behind the Ideological foundation of CLU. To date, three regional offices have been successfully established, while the establishment of an office in the Western Region remains an outstanding task. This achievement demonstrates the progress made during the past two years amidst unavoidable constraints while also highlighting the organisational responsibilities that lie ahead, it should be the responsibility of every comrade to identify potential members, educate them and recruit them in the struggle.
However, the task of making these offices active and effective, remains an important challenge at hand. The establishment of an office must go beyond having a physical presence, it must become a centre for ideological education, political discussion, recruitment, mobilisation, and the development of cadres. The CLU had anticipated that comrades responsible for these offices would regularly conduct ideological classes and mobilisation activities through these organisational structures. Strengthening this aspect of the organisation’s work remains an important task for the coming period.
As the Communist League of Uganda celebrates its second anniversary, it also recognises that the development of a revolutionary organisation is a continuous struggle that advances in process by process. The progress achieved so far should therefore serve not only as a reason for celebration but also as a basis for deeper reflection, organisational improvement, and renewed commitment towards the socialist cause.
Last but not least, CLU extends its sincere appreciation to international comrades who have provided guidance, solidarity, political and financial support throughout this journey. Their solidarity has contributed to the development of the organisation and has strengthened its determination to continue pursuing its socialist objectives despite the challenges encountered along the way, and we promise continued cooperation and support with organisations and individual Comrades in the spirit of Marxism.
The second anniversary therefore represents both a celebration of the progress made and a moment to reaffirm the work that remains ahead. The challenges facing the organisation are real, and further difficulties are anticipated. Nevertheless, the CLU remains committed to strengthening its organisation, developing politically conscious comrades, expanding its structures, and advancing the socialist cause.
As the CLU enters its third year, it does so with renewed determination and a clear sense of purpose. The journey has only begun. The lessons of the past two years shall guide the work of the future, while the successes achieved provide the confidence to confront the tasks that remain. The Communist League of Uganda remains firm and focused on its socialist goal, committed to continuing the struggle with determination, discipline and solidarity to liberate the Ugandan working class.
Long live the CLU!
